You Belong Here — What The Dwelling Place Is Really About

Most people know the feeling of walking into a room and wondering if they belong there. Finding a church that feels like home is one of the hardest things to do — and one of the most important. The Dwelling Place in Central Texas exists to be exactly that: a church that feels like home from the moment you walk through the door.

We are not a church built around a program or a personality. We are built around one conviction — that God’s presence is central, and that every person who shows up deserves to feel that there is room for them here.

What Makes a Church That Feels Like Home

A church that feels like home has a few things in common. People learn your name. Your story gets heard. The worship is genuine rather than performed. The teaching is honest and grounded in Scripture. Nobody is putting on a show, and nobody expects you to either.

That is the culture Pastor Rob Ellis and his wife Esme have built at The Dwelling Place. It is intentional. It is consistent. Moreover, it is something you can feel from the first Sunday you visit.

Small churches do this better than large ones — not always, but often. When a congregation is small, community happens naturally. You are not one of thousands. You are a person with a name and a story, and the people around you actually want to know both.

Built on More Than a Feeling — A Church That Feels Like Home Starts With Presence

The name “The Dwelling Place” comes from Revelation 21:3: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them.” That is the vision. God dwelling with His people — not distant, not occasional, but present.

Therefore, everything we do on Sunday is oriented around that presence. The worship creates space for it. The teaching is shaped by it. The community carries it into the week. A church that feels like home is not just warm and welcoming. It is a place where God actually shows up — and where that changes people.

Who You Will Find Here

The Dwelling Place is made up of real people. People who have been through hard things. People who are still in the middle of hard things. People who grew up in church and people who have never set foot in one. All of them found a church that feels like home — and all of them are welcome here.

Pastor Rob preaches with depth and clarity. His messages are grounded in Scripture and practically applied. Additionally, the community around him reflects the same honesty — nobody is performing, and nobody expects you to.

According to Barna Research, the most valued aspect of church for regular attenders is genuine community and relationships. We take that seriously every single Sunday.
